Well it is tomorrow, and we are in Spain! It has been a busy day, but first let me tell you about the farewell party. We ate dinner at Laduree, a popular restaurant on the Champs d'elysees. The restaurant originated as a bakery, so you can guess how good the pastry was. I had the Sea Bass, and it was the best, and the only, Sea Bass I have ever eaten. Kirstyn had the chicken. She wasn't as adventurous as I was! During dinner, we were serenaded by an accordian player/singer. After dinner, we were treated to a slideshow of our trip. It was really fun to watch. When we got back from dinner, we had to back. Our luggage pickup was scheduled for 11 am. I wanted to be ready before sleeping, and avoid any confusion in the morning.
Well we had a nice leisurely wake up and went down for breakfast. It was 10:45 and we discovered that they stopped serving breadfast at 10:30. We should have known that today was going to be a late day! We left the hotel at 11:30. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 2:20, so we had plenty of time. We got there, got our boarding passes, browsed in the shops, had some lunch, and made our way to the departure gate around 1:30. We soon discovered that our flight was delayed, are you sensing a theme here. We were now set to depart at 3:30, plus they changed our gate! We finally took off at 4:15 pm. Our original landing time was to be 4:05, so we were running a little behind.
The flight was really smooth and fast. The people behind us and across from us are also on the Disney cruise, so we had plenty to chat about. It was around 5:30 when we landed. We got our bags, and met the Disney transfer folks. We had to wait a little while, as a couple hadn't showed up (late reference again). We left the airport at 6:30. Now we had dinner plans for 8:00, so we are thinking we can still make it. Mistake; traffic was a nightmare. According to mapquest, the drive to the hotel should have taken a half hour at the most. We didn't get here until 8. By the time we got checked in, got our bags it was now 8:30. The guy at check in had not heard of the restaurant, so we decided to just go across the street and have a bite at the shopping mall.
So here I am now. I've missed dinner meeting my friends at the DIS Boards, however, I'm sure they will understand. The motto of this trip is to go with the flow! We aren't going to let a little flight delay and traffic problems ruin our trip. So take care all! My next entry will be aboard the Magic!!
